Database Administrator

Location: Canberra, ACT
Duration: 12 months, with possibility of extension
Work Arrangement: On site at least 3 days a week
Security Clearance: Baseline required

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to play a vital role in maintaining and sustaining the database environment, encompassing both on-premises and cloud-hosted systems. As a key member of the team, you will collaborate closely with project managers and contribute to various projects and business-as-usual activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver work packages to support multiple projects, ensuring project deliverables are met.
  • Develop relevant documentation, including handover to Business-As-Usual (BAU) teams, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), detailed designs, and high-level designs.
  • Provide on-the-job training and knowledge transfer to other staff to support internal capability uplift, as time permits.

Essential Criteria:

  1. Tertiary qualifications in ICT or a related field and/or equivalent experience as a database administrator (8+ years).
  2. Extensive experience administering SQL Server, including legacy SQL Server 2012 to all versions of SQL Server in the Azure cloud.
  3. Proficiency in TSQL and PowerShell scripting.
  4. Experience with on-premises high availability clusters.
  5. Demonstrated experience in decommissioning legacy SQL Server 2012 servers and migrating databases between different versions of SQL Server.
  6. Experience with Commvault backup and restore.

Desirable Criteria:

  1. Experience with SAS Grid or SAS Viya.
