Job description

Our client, an international mining company, is seeking a FIFO Mine Automation Technician to join them on a permanent basis. You will play a key role in supporting autonomous mining systems and associated communications infrastructure across a dynamic underground operation.

You'll work closely with mining, maintenance, and facilities teams to install, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot advanced onboard technology systems, primarily the autonomous equipment guidance and control suite. These systems include high-precision sensors, GNSS receivers, lidar/radar, electronic control modules, and wireless mesh communication networks.

What you'll be doing:

  • Installing and maintaining vehicle-mounted mine technology systems
  • Conduct diagnostics and resolve faults across autonomous control and communications systems
  • Support commissioning of equipment and infrastructure for remote operations
  • Assist with implementation and upkeep of site-wide communication networks
  • Collaborate with technical specialists and OEMs to ensure high equipment uptime
  • Provide technical input into ongoing improvements and upgrades of control systems
  • Working on an 8:6 FIFO roster flying from Brisbane, Perth, Darwin or Alice Springs.

What you'll bring:

  • Relevant trade qualification (e.g., Automotive Electrical, Communications, Electronics, Industrial Electrical, Control Systems)
  • At least 2 years post-trade experience; prior exposure to a mining or industrial environment preferred
  • Familiarity with Caterpillar MineStar systems or similar platforms is a distinct advantage
  • Experience with Motorola digital radio systems and working with schematics
  • Valid C-Class driver's licence and working at heights/EWP certification
