Job description

Our client is seeking one (1) suitably experienced Senior Software Developer to contribute to the National Criminal Intelligence System (NCIS) project which is part of the department's broader Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) program of work.


The projects are assigned as part of a large portfolio of approved and funded ICT initiatives for the period of July 2024 to June 2025. The portfolio of projects covers a diverse range of business requirements and varying complexity, included but not limited to, capability enhancements, information security and risk, infrastructure and application implementations, upgrades and migrations.

Key accountabilities & Skill sets:
The Senior Software Developer will have the ability to work effectively with within the software development team, to engage with technical subject matter experts across various teams (eg Cyber Security, Digital Design, Networks, End User Tools & Platforms, Desktop Mobility and Video, and Data Centre) as required and build positive relationships with key stakeholders across FDD, public safety agencies and vendors.

The core capability requirements for this role are:
* Contribute to all stages of the software development process. Primarily design, code, review, test, correct and document complex system components from supplied specifications using agreed standards and tools, to achieve a well-engineered result.
* Define the technical criteria for product/component selection and contribute to decisions about tools, methods and approaches.
* Provide advice on business system solutions, products and services to internal and external stakeholders.
* Provide guidance on design and programming solutions associated with the development, maintenance and enhancement of complex high availability corporate systems and services.
* Maintain currency of skills and knowledge in the field of Microsoft C# and .NET Framework development and web service programming.
* Deliver timely client focused support of applications in a 24/7 operational environment.

Technical/Operational/Educational Experience
Highly Desirable:
* A tertiary level qualification in Information Technology or Computer
* Demonstrated use and skill with the following technologies:
o Microsoft.NET Framework/Core (C#)
o Java
o Microsoft Design Patterns (MVC, MVVM, Razor)
o Microsoft Visual Studio 2022
o Azure DevOps, TeamCity, DevOps
o Testing Frameworks (MSTest, NUnit, Gherkin, SpecFlow)
o Entity Framework / Dapper / SQL
o Microsoft Web Services technologies
o Strong knowledge in all phases of the System Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
