About the role:
The Software Developer develops, delivers and supports the deployment of web apps for use by staff, partners and customers.
One will ensure the delivery of high-quality business applications as part of a multi-disciplinary team including architects, UX designers, BA's, the test team, external vendors and stakeholders.
The primary focus will be on the digital experience for staff and customers within constraints of time and budget. You will use appropriate and agreed techniques, ensuring that all contributors are aligned and maintaining compliance with quality and standards.
Key Accountabilities:
- Develop quality code that is secure, reliable, sustainable and meets Sydney Water standards, processes and frameworks.
- Translate business needs into technical requirements while collaborating with all Digital teams to ensure a rich customer experience.
- Perform deployments to controlled test environments and participate in implementation of software release.
- Ensure issues effecting code quality and delivery are escalated on continual basis to the Technical Lead, ensuring customer focused delivery.
- Implement tasks allocated by the Technical Lead to meet customer requirements.
- Assist in the design of digital interface solutions and validate these proposed solutions with end users.
- Contribute towards estimates for delivery.
- Build and improve new and existing solutions, applications for the business.
To be successful for the role, one must have:
- Minimum 5+ years'of experience in Software Development with Visual Basic (Java and C++).
A minimum of 5 years' experience in IT/Digital delivery and at least 3 years in application development role.
Experience in developing integrations, knowledge of data structure, query and storage.
Experience in design, build and configure applications to meet business process and application requirements.
- Understanding of SQL Programming (Oracle)- end user (not DBA), HTML, Excel and VB.
Good analytical skills with ability to formulate detailed roadmap based on analysis and best practices.
Familiarity with current development practice including Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD).
Sound working knowledge of IT delivery management principles and frameworks (ITIL) including working within an Agile team.
