Job description
Technical Officer
- Work with a large federal government department
- Contract Duration: 12 months + 2x 12 months extensions
- Location: Canberra
- Security Clearance: NV2 or higher is a must
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support
- Install and support IT, Network, and Communications systems.
- Review and maintain installation documentation for various ICT systems.
- Perform general technical work and provide advice.
- Undertake additional duties as required in relation to ICT technical installations and support.
- Work under limited supervision, individually or in a team environment.
- Engage with a variety of stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and showcase sound lateral thinking to investigate and solve undocumented problems.
- Create and update Standard Operating Procedures.
Skills and Experience Required
- Complex ICT Systems.
- Desktop: Capable of installing/supporting end-user compute software and hardware.
- Printers: Capable of installation and troubleshooting hardware and software.
- UPS: Understanding of Uninterruptible Power Supply function and installation/maintenance.
- Physical Network and Server Infrastructure: Basic understanding and operability of network and server devices and distribution cabling.
- Active NV2 security clearance, with PV desirable.
Desirable Criteria
- Logical Network: Working knowledge of network routing and switching, including core concepts such as DHCP, subnetting, VLANs, or the ability to acquire this knowledge.
- Open Cabling Registration.
- Senior First Aid.
- White Card, Enter and Work in Confined Spaces, Work Safely at Heights, Asbestos Awareness.
- Knowledge of government physical and electronic security requirements and processes.
- Understanding of technical ICT operational environment.
Eligibility
- Australian citizenship with NV2 or higher security clearance is a must.
