Job description

Cloud Network Engineer

Job/Project Description - tasks to be performed on a daily basis

  • Maintain and manage existing Azure networking components including NSGs, Load Balancers, user-defined routes (UDRs), and Virtual Networks (VNets).
  • Ensure NSGs are consistently applied, contain valid rules, and are aligned with the Client's security policies and segmentation models.
  • Support the operational integrity of Load Balancers configured for High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) scenarios across multiple Azure regions.
  • Collaborate with platform, security, and application teams to troubleshoot connectivity issues and implement approved network changes.
  • Monitor network performance and availability using Azure-native monitoring tools and respond to alerts in accordance with incident response protocols.
  • Participate in change management processes for updates to network configurations and ensure documentation is kept current.
  • Assist in root cause analysis for network-related incidents and implement corrective measures as necessary.


Mandatory Requirements:

  • Must have an active AGSVA Baseline Clearance, preferred to have AGSVA NV1 Clearance or be eligible to obtain one.
  • Must be an Australian Citizen
  • It is mandatory to be on site 5 days a week.


Required Professional and Technical Expertise:

  • 1 - 2 years of experience in managing enterprise networking infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of Azure networking services including NSGs, VNets, Load Balancers, Application Gateways, UDRs, and service endpoints.
  • Experience working with multi-region, multi-zone network topologies and HA/DR configurations.
  • Familiarity with Azure monitoring tools (e.g., Network Watcher, Log Analytics, Azure Monitor) for troubleshooting and diagnostics.
  • Solid grasp of IP addressing, routing principles, and cloud firewall policies.
  • Ability to work in highly structured environments with strict change control and governance models.

Desired Attributes and Skills:

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate or equivalent.
  • Experience in regulated or government environments with high security and audit requirements.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., ARM templates, Terraform) for managing network configurations.
  • Understanding of Zero Trust Networking and segmentation models in cloud environments
