Job description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Data Migration Specialist to join our clients' team. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing the migration of data from legacy systems to new platforms. Your expertise will ensure the integrity, accuracy, and security of data throughout the migration process, supporting the Department's goal of maintaining reliable and accessible information systems.

Essential requirements:

  • Experience in large and/or complex data migration activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to write complex SQL scripts, queries, and stored procedures to extract and transform data.
  • Experience in eliciting, analysing, specifying, documenting and validating the business data needs of stakeholders.
  • Data/reports development skills and experience relevant to the position
  • Understanding and experience working with applications that utilise complex relational architecture
  • Experience working within a large, complex multi-disciplinary organisation
  • High level of written communication and documentation skills
  • Proven effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills and experience
  • Proven ability to manage a large workload whilst maintaining high levels of accuracy

Desirable requirements

  • Data and ETL experience especially with Microsoft Azure Cloud Data Platform (Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure Dataverse)
  • Demonstrated experience in data ingestion, cleansing, manipulation and modelling.
  • Experience in developing complex reports, including consideration of complex business rules and data architecture
  • Knowledge and understanding of the public sector Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Environment.
  • See projects through to completion, monitoring project progress and adjusting plans as required.
  • Take personal responsibility for meeting objectives and progressing work. Demonstrate initiative and proactively steps in and does what is required. Commits energy and drive to see that goals are achieved.
  • Consults and shares information and ensures others are kept informed of issues.
  • Experience in agile projects methodology.
