Job description

Long term contract available for an experienced Security Consultant to join a leading IT Security team.

In this role, you will play a crucial role in leading the organisations security governance and risk policies and procedures and the coordination of reporting activities against the Information Security Management System (ISMS).

To achieve this, you will be required to:

  • Coordinating and monitor a range of security controls
  • Respond to alerts and events raised by the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tool.
  • Take responsibility for the remediation of cyber security incidents, threats and vulnerabilities;
  • Develop and implement information security policies and procedures, based on ISO 27000 and other best practice approaches;
  • Be responsible to develop and implement an ongoing security education, training and awareness program for all staff to build organisational capability in information security practices;
  • Be responsible to investigate and recommend enhancements to the ICT team's cyber security gaps;
  • Provide communication support on cyber security risks, threats and incident management and develop appropriate reports and metrics on the status of the overall cyber security program; and

Skills required:

  • Ability to analyse security trends - Continually works to enhance breadth and depth of knowledge and experience
  • Knowledge in cyber security strategy & architecture - Understands security strategy, architecture and tools in accordance with Queensland Government standards, policies, procedures and other formal guidance, ensuring security technology standards and best practices are maintained across the organisation;
  • Ability to develop and implement process improvement - Promotes implementation of ISMS to improve business processes, efficiency, effectiveness and value delivered to customers;
  • Experience in Information Security Risk Management including the ability to successfully implement security risk management processes, programs and strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, client interface and presentation skills
  • Results orientated / self-directed ability to drive change in an unstructured environment.
