Job description

Training Services NSW has been working with the Animation and VFX sector, to design, implement and fund, targeted short-course training programs, delivering the skills needed by industry.
Through this, Cheeky Little Media and Dave Enterprises have teamed up with TAFE NSW to deliver a 6-week part-time course for anyone who loves drawing, storytelling and would like to work in the rapidly growing Animation industry as a Storyboarding Artist.

Successful applicants will need to be available to attend the course in person at TAFE Kingswood Campus for 6 weeks (Monday & Friday) commencing Monday 05 September 2022.  
Please note this 6-week period will be unpaid but this is a unique opportunity where you will also be given the chance to undertake a work-placement with one of the studios involved, as well as being reviewed for current Junior Revisionist roles. 
The course consists of two 3-hour sessions a week (6 hours) held on Mondays and Fridays. Mid-week self-study tutorials are also delivered.

What we will cover:
•    An understanding of steps and processes involved in revising and designing storyboards
•    Visual storytelling
•    Character posing, action, continuity, staging and camera

What we are looking for:
•    A passion for drawing, including characters, comic books, illustration and animation
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
•    Good people skills and the ability to effectively interact with diverse groups
•    Proven ability and experience working in a team
•    Strong time management skills: Ability to multi-task and prioritise
•    Aesthetic eye and/or artistic background highly desired
•    Highly motivated to work in the animation sector
•    Ability to adapt to a high pressure, fast-paced, dynamic environment
•    To have a strong work ethic with dedicated and high customer service
•    Knowledge/Experience with Storyboard Pro software or similar is advantageous

•    Must be an Australian Citizen, or Australian Permanent Resident, or Humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand Citizen
•    Living in NSW
•    Aged 15 years and over
•    Must be available and committed to the full 6-week course commencing Monday 5th September 2022

*Portfolios will be vetted by an industry expert for style suitability.
Portfolio Requirement:
Please supply a pdf portfolio or link to website containing up to 20 examples of your creative work. We are open to a wide range of styles; this opportunity is particularly suitable for people who are interested in drawing figures and thinking sequentially. Useful folio examples include:
•    Observational figure drawings from life in various poses
•    Observational drawings of places, showing perspective and structure
•    Comic book sequences and storyboards, showing a sense of visual sequence and storytelling
•    Original and existing cartoon characters in multiple poses

*Please note, emphasis is on rough construction drawings and observation from life, not on polished artwork.
