PRODUCTION ASSISTANT/PRODUCT DEVELOPER

Company Overview
Our client is a full-service fashion and merchandise design and production company based in Northern Suburbs of Melbourne. Specialists in streetwear, skate, and music-oriented brands globally. This is a small yet dynamic design team in Australia, that has an integrated operations team in China, manages large-scale operations to deliver high-quality products to a diverse client base.

Position Overview
They're looking for a versatile Product Developer/Assistant to join their team. This role is pivotal in supporting both the production and creative aspects of operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of fashion and merchandise production processes, with the creativity to contribute to product development initiatives. Problem-solving and lateral thinking will be key to success in this agile, fast-paced, but rewarding work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production Coordination - Assist in coordinating the end-to-end production process from concept and sampling to delivery including communicating with operations team in China.
  • Monitor production timelines and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Quality Control - Conduct quality checks on incoming materials, swatches, and finished products then address and resolve any quality issues promptly.
  • Product Development - Support the product development team in creating new designs and concepts.
  • Assist in budgeting, costing, and pricing related to production activities.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven experience (2+ years) in a production assistant role within the fashion or merchandise industry.
  • Competent in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop as well as MS Office.
  • Strong understanding of production processes from sourcing materials to manufacturing and logistics.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of Monday.com and Dropbox is a plus.
