Our client, the largest local government in WA, is seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Specialist for a permanent position. You will be responsible for ensuring that the council's business intelligence applications and reporting facilitate corporate strategy and operational processes.
The role involves working closely with staff across various business units to define, develop, and deliver effective operational and strategic reporting that leverages the corporate databases. This position requires an extensive understanding of business processes, strong skills in requirements analysis, design techniques, and the development of technical solutions.
What You'll Do:
- Establish and optimise technology for information analysis and reporting delivery.
- Maintain a secure and high-quality data storage and reporting architecture, including the ongoing management, security protocols, and data quality assurance processes for all data repositories and reporting systems.
- Facilitate seamless data and reporting integration across core business systems to ensure that data can flow smoothly between different systems, enabling comprehensive and unified reporting capabilities.
- Translate business operational needs and practices into effective reporting solution architectures.
- Provide strategic foresight and recommendations for the future evolution of reporting systems.
- Collaborate with various Business Units to understand their specific reporting requirements and deliver tailored application reporting solutions.
- Conduct thorough research and analysis to identify business needs and evaluate the suitability of potential reporting tools and methodologies.
- Design, develop, and implement Business Intelligence (BI) applications and standardised corporate reports.
- Deliver all reporting services in accordance with agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to ensure that reporting services are provided reliably and meet the agreed-upon performance standards and timelines.
- Ensure the continuous operation and reliability (integrity and continuity) of all Business Intelligence services.
- Perform the design and modeling of the data warehouse to optimise data storage and retrieval for reporting purposes.
- Determine the most appropriate BI and data warehousing solutions to effectively address identified business needs and challenges.
- Assist in the planning of future capacity requirements for corporate application reporting systems.
What You'll Bring:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Systems Management or equivalent experience.
- Extensive experience in the Software Development Lifecycle.
- Strong application support experience and the ability to prioritise support activities.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft product suite (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS) and Tabular Model.
- Experience in creating stored procedures and scripts in Microsoft SQL.
- Deep understanding of database, warehouse design, development, and modeling.
- Significant experience using BI technologies with corporate ERPs
