Senior Business Analyst

The Senior Business Analyst will provide business intelligence analysis, process analysis, systems analysis and support to the business analysts across the Enterprise Intelligence Platform. The services expected from the incumbent include, but are not limited to:

• Functional & Non-functional requirements elicitation
• Requirements lifecycle Management
• Technical & Business Analysis Planning & Monitoring
• Process Analysis & Modelling
• Option papers/analysis & business casing
• Estimation & Financial Analysis to support business case submissions
• Benefits mapping & Benefits realisation

The IT environment managed by the Digital Division on behalf of our customers is complex and diverse. The role requires great communication, stakeholder management skills as the Business Analyst will navigate across multiple business groups as well as technical teams within the Digital division.

The position requirements are:

• Work with business stakeholders and data analysts to elicit requirements and translate into user stories
• Identify information sets, source data and business logic or calculations applied and then document requirements in the form of user stories
• Create report mock-ups and reverse engineer reporting requirements from existing report specifications
• Undertake testing activity to validate data models / reports correlate with specified business requirements
• Undertake functional testing activity related to the development and implementation of new reporting tools
• Working with clients and architects to define requirements and determine appropriate design options
• Managing deliverables throughout the Software Development Life Cycle to support effective implementation of new and enhanced systems
• Provide research and analysis services to support the development of the information management principles and data architecture.
• Undertaking detailed analysis assignments on projects and for operational assignments as required
• Work with the key business teams to develop the supporting documentation for Business Case submission
• Support project team/s to successfully deliver the project/s using contemporary tools and applications
• Ability to develop and deliver reports and presentations that clearly articulate the issues and proposed solutions, in a dynamic / changing environment
• Develop and document activities and artefacts to enable the successful transition of delivered platform components from project into operations
• Compliance with all relevant Legislation, company policies, procedures and practices as varied from time to time

Essential Criteria:

• Demonstrated experience working on and facilitating/co-ordinating the delivery of Business intelligence or Analytics outcomes across a diverse organisation
• Demonstrated experience working with regulated entities and an understanding of the compliance requirements, including reporting and provision of information to regulatory bodies
• Demonstrated experience working on projects that provide corporate dashboard and reporting solutions to Board and Executive level management teams
• Demonstrated experience in developing project scopes and cost estimates
• Experience in authoring reports and preparing presentations for senior audiences
• Competent in understanding Excel advanced functionality (as may be used by accountants and engineers)
• Competent in understanding SQL and embedded business rules
• Demonstrated ability in establishing and building relationships with business managers and ICT service providers, and negotiating outcomes in a complex environment

Desirable Criteria:

• Practical experience in Project tools and applications such as JIRA, Confluence and SharePoint
• Demonstrated understanding of potential future directions across the energy sector
• Understanding of Project Delivery life cycle and Agile methodology
• Experience and knowledge of the Energy industry
• Desirable to have understanding of the electricity distribution business and regulations within Australia
• Experience with financial analysis, such as Return of the Investment, Net Present Value calculation concepts and their application on a business case context
