Job description

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced Business Analyst to join a large Qld Government department and work on a critical piece of work.

As the Business Analyst, your focus will be to act as the conduit between the technical teams, vendor, and various stakeholders to ensure the delivery of a fit for purpose system.

Responsibilities include:

  • progress from identifying stakeholder requirements, review current state information, examine source data, categorise, and map data flows, propose future state information, support development of technical specifications and create user stories to implement the solution vision
  • manage stakeholder relationships including acting as the single point of contact for certain stakeholder groups, leading and conducting workshops and meetings to define business processes and ensure business requirements are understood and documented
  • identify improvements in information systems, information management, procedures, and other business processes
  • provide expertise in establishing and documenting business process and solution requirements utilising a Human Centred Design approach, through structured research and analysis, facilitating stakeholder workshops, surveys, client meetings and industry reviews.
  • work collaboratively to conceptualise, design, and create the future state solution and suite of features
  • prepare project documentation that defines solution design, options, technical and functional considerations, process alignment and risks.

Skills required:

  • Must have demonstrable business/system analyst skills and experience (5+ years)
  • Proven experience in drawing accurate and effective business process models and information/data models including 'as is' and 'to be' utilising appropriate notations (such as BPMN, UML etc.)
  • Agile story board management and controls including tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • client relationship management
  • ability to develop and facilitate workshops, map processes and document business requirements.
