Job description
The purpose of the Senior Payroll Business Analyst role is to join the implementation of the Payroll Project to ensure that the project is delivered to the highest quality. The Senior Payroll Business Analyst has the experience and insight to work quickly and autonomously and will be expected to lead business requirement gathering and process workshops, collaborating with business stakeholders and 3rd party providers to gather, analyse, and document payroll system requirements. The Senior Payroll Business Analyst will bring their confidence, work ethic, and leadership skills to ensure the successful implementation of IT initiatives.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Payroll Business Analyst:
- Lead the capture and documentation of requirements, scope, and business processes for IT projects.
- Facilitate workshops and interviews with subject matter experts and stakeholders from all levels of the business.
- Assist in the development of test scripts and end-to-end testing to ensure the system is delivered to the agreed requirements.
- Develop handover and transition to operations documents including process, training, and procedural documentation.
- Ability to communicate and present on complex topics at all levels in the business.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist portfolio and project managers in identifying, reporting, and resolving risks and issues throughout the life of the project.
- Collaborate with solution and technical architects during requirements gathering and solution design.
Essential Work Experience:
- Payroll project implementation experience across New Zealand and Australia.
- Experience with the Ramco product will be highly regarded.
- Workday and related integration experience will be highly regarded.
- Competency using Microsoft Excel to analyze and cleanse data (where required).
- Must have experience as a business analyst in Waterfall/PRINCE2 projects-eliciting requirements, creating documentation, managing requirements from definition through to the testing process, etc.
Business Analysis Experience:
- 7+ years of experience working as a business or technical business analyst.
- Experience working closely with program and project managers to suggest best approaches and practices for eliciting IT initiative requirements and assessing the risks and impacts of initiatives on the business.
- Experience working with and managing business stakeholders, application owners, and external vendors.
- Experience working in Waterfall, Agile, and Hybrid project methodologies and within different sized project teams.
- Experience leading workshops and interviews.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and critical thinking.
Essential Soft-Skills:
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to work across multiple projects.
- Ability to work autonomously and without direction for periods of time, with experience in small project teams as the single business analyst on an initiative.
