Job description
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior EDW Platform Engineer to join a growing federal program focused on delivering modern, secure, and scalable data infrastructure. This role is pivotal to ensuring the effective performance, integration, and automation of cloud-based Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) environments and associated analytics platforms.
The successful candidate will work closely with cloud infrastructure teams, data engineers, architects, and platform owners to deliver infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, and observability across critical data platforms. The role also includes strategic contributions to data governance, performance tuning, and supporting integration with tools such as dbt, Airflow, and cloud-native technologies (AWS and Azure).

To be successful in this role you must:
Platform Engineering
- Provision, configure, and manage EDW environments including accounts, roles, warehouses, and storage using automation tools and APIs.
- Design and manage secure, scalable environments across development, testing, and production tiers.
- Implement lifecycle management, storage/compute scaling, and cost optimisation strategies.
- Support integration with orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, dbt), ingestion tools (e.g., Fivetran, Informatica), and cloud storage services (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Blob).
Infrastructure Automation & CI/CD
- Develop and maintain infrastructure using Terraform and other IaC tools.
- Build and optimise CI/CD pipelines for schema management, metadata, and transformation workflows following GitOps principles.
- Maintain reusable deployment templates for consistency and governance across teams.
Monitoring, Performance, and Reliability
- Establish alerting and observability for EDW platforms using logs, metrics, and third-party tools.
- Analyse performance issues, advise on optimisation strategies (e.g., partitioning, materialised views).
- Lead incident response for data infrastructure and ensure high availability.
Security, Compliance, and Governance
- Implement RBAC, row-level and column-level security, and secure sharing protocols.
- Manage secrets and credentials using key vaults, OAuth, or SSO integrations.
- Align platform security and configurations with compliance standards (e.g., ISO27001, SOC2, GDPR).
Collaboration and Enablement
- Work with analytics and engineering teams to standardise data workflows and support self-service through documentation and enablement.
- Conduct knowledge sharing and contribute to onboarding processes for tools and platforms.
- Stay informed of emerging trends and recommend improvements to architecture and toolsets.
To be considered for this role you must:
- Minimum 5 years' experience with enterprise-scale Data & Analytics Platforms.
- Proven experience in managing SAS Grid, SAS Visual Analytics, and Teradata environments.
- Strong experience integrating DevOps practices with analytics and data platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate data platforms with various data applications.
- Prior experience working in or supporting a Government or Public Sector organisation preferred, with a focus on integration design patterns and enterprise data management.
- Proven experience delivering and supporting high-impact enterprise solutions, with a commitment to quality, performance targets, and leadership in operational settings.
- Certifications in SAS technologies
- Certifications in Teradata
- Certifications in DevOps, Agile methodologies, or ITIL
