Job description

Role Overview
The Midrange Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for delivering advanced systems administration across midrange infrastructure. This role encompasses the design, implementation, administration, and support of Microsoft, Linux, and virtualised environments. It is a senior-level position within a collaborative team focused on enterprise service delivery. Remote work may be available for candidates with suitable experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement virtualised infrastructure for internal systems and external stakeholders.

  • Provide senior-level administration of Windows Server, Red Hat Linux, Active Directory, and IIS/Apache web services.

  • Manage enterprise VMware deployments, including associated storage, backup, and replication systems.

  • Support automation, provisioning, and business logic processes.

  • Administer SQL Server and MySQL/MariaDB databases.

  • Oversee security patching, PKI infrastructure, and cyber security tools.

  • Provide administration and technical guidance for cloud services (particularly Azure).

  • Document procedures and assist with reporting and capacity planning.

  • Contribute technical expertise to project proposals.

  • Participate in a rotating on-call roster.

Skills and Experience (Essential)

  • Hands-on experience with VMware and VMware automation in an enterprise setting.

  • Strong administration skills in Windows Server and/or Red Hat Linux.

  • Experience with SAN allocation, CommVault, Veeam, and replication technologies.

  • Familiarity with Azure cloud resource management and subscription models.

  • Competence in deploying web applications using IIS and Apache.

  • Background in cyber security practices and patch management.

  • Exposure to ITIL-based service management and ticketing systems.

  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation abilities.

Skills and Experience (Highly Desirable)

  • Certifications in VMware, Windows Server, Linux, or Azure.

  • Experience with F5 BIG-IP, scripting/automation, and large-scale hosting.

  • Familiarity with midrange environments and enterprise-grade security practices.
