Job description
This federal government department is looking for an experienced Systems Administrator / Site Reliability Engineer with experience in Unix and Websphere server platform to join their highly dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage application environments based on Linux and WebSphere platforms.
- Maintain and operate WebSphere servers.
- Investigate and resolve application faults and incidents.
- Monitor and optimise system performance.
- Automate processes (using Ansible, Python and related tools).
- Apply patching and configuration changes.
- Support Hypercare arrangements.
- Set standards for documentation and classification of incidents and problems.
- Analyse problems and derive long term solutions and/or workarounds.
- Develop and maintain formal procedures for consistency and increased productivity.
- Perform and manage corrective actions related to production support function (e.g. monitoring queues, monitoring business application performance).
- Resolve escalated problems.
- Ensure provided solutions are documented as required in the known error database.
- Manage the prioritisation of support issues to ensure timely resolution Support Engineering Expert Services Australia.
- Be responsible for implementing solutions, workaround or request for change.
- Continuously work to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the support service.
- Other Ad-hoc duties as required.
- Some roles will be subject to working in a roster supporting critical systems 24/7
Skills Required:
- Experience in system administration in the following technology platforms: Unix/Linux and Websphere Application Server
- Experience in system adminstration in the following technology platforms-Unix/Linux.
- Experience in system adminstration in the following technology platforms-Websphere Application Server.
- Knowledge of Automation using Shell script, Ansible, Python.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as code.
