Job description

We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist with a passion for solving complex problems using advanced Machine Learning (ML) techniques. This role requires a strategic thinker capable of designing innovative technology solutions that support business transformation and deliver measurable value. You will be responsible for independently managing tasks, collaborating across teams, and developing robust, scalable, and production-ready models.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse business processes and challenges to design data-driven ML solutions that optimise operational efficiency.

  • Use statistical programming languages such as Python and SQL to manipulate and analyse large datasets.

  • Translate business metrics into ML problems; engineer features from large-scale data sources; train, evaluate, and deploy models into production environments.

  • Design and implement high-performance algorithms for predictive modelling and targeting; write scalable, production-level code.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system interfaces and resolve data dependencies.

  • Write and maintain code in languages such as Python, R, or Java.

  • Build and manage scalable data architectures that support data science workflows.

  • Apply machine learning techniques and evaluate their effectiveness in real-world scenarios.

  • Use advanced statistical methods to inform model development and decision-making.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, with a focus on Machine Learning.

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience writing production-quality code.

  • Hands-on experience with classical and modern ML techniques, including Regression, SVMs, Regularisation, Boosting, Random Forests, and ensemble methods.

  • Proven track record in delivering end-to-end ML projects from research to deployment.

  • Experience building feature stores and working with data in platforms such as Teradata or similar.

  • Proficiency with data visualisation tools such as D3.js, ggplot2, or similar.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present technical insights to non-technical stakeholders.

  • A portfolio (e.g., GitHub or Kaggle) showcasing relevant ML projects or challenges.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience deploying ML models into production environments.

  • Developer or Architect certification in AWS or Azure.

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Perl, Ruby, Scala, or shell scripting in Linux/Unix environments.

  • Strong data engineering skills, including data extraction, cleaning, and transformation.

  • Familiarity with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Hive, or Pig.
